Two injured as car rams into bike

A speeding car, believed to have being driven by a police officer, rammed into a bike leaving two men critically injured in Rohini area, during the early hours on Wednesday. A police cap, some files and liquor bottles were found in the car, which was vandalised by locals and an agitated public, after the driver managed to flee from the spot.

The incident took place when the two victims, identified as Johny, 25, and Amit, 17, residents of Mangolpuri, were heading home from the Shakarpur area on a sports bike. Locals told police that when the duo stopped the bike at a traffic signal, a Swift car that was coming from behind, rammed into the bike, throwing the two youths in the air.

“Locals said that the impact of the collision was such that the duo sustained critical injuries on the head and fractures in the leg. A PCR call was made and they were rushed to a nearby hospital where their condition is said to be critical. A police cap has been found from the car but it is yet to be ascertained if the driver was a cop. Efforts to identify the owner of the car are being made and the vehicle has been seized,” said a senior police officer.

Police have registered a case and are also checking CCTV footages of the accident to ascertain the sequence of incident and check if any other vehicle was involved.
